Dr. Vahid Ghobadians statements about the 5th International Conference on Sustainable Urban Development and Architecture in Dubai and the Sustainable Masdar City Tourism Tour: The 5th Sustainable Architecture and Urban Development course in the Middle East and South Asia will take place on March 13 and 14. The two-day program of the conference is set to be a conference on March 13 in the Indian Amiti university in the Academic City district in Dubai and two professors from Amiti University and two professors from Islamic Azad University of the UAE will speak at the conference on Sustainable Architecture and Urban Development and at the end of the conference there will be a panel discussion between speakers and attendees. On the first day, the first speaker, Dr. Ghobadian from the UAE Unit, presented PowerPoint on traditional Iranian architecture and the foresight of ancient Iranian architects on the issues of sustainability and the theme of contemporary architecture and urbanization from the perspective of sustainability in Iran’s diverse climates. Afterwards, Professor David Provenzani of the Institute of Green Energy in Italy lectured and presented films on new global approaches to the sustainability of digital technology in today’s architecture and urban development. Dr. John Delvin’s lecture from the University of Newcastle, England, continued on projects carried out at the Newcastle Historical Context Center built on a sustainable approach. Most of what he presented was about rebuilding Newcastle’s downtown fabric and sustainable urban, economic and social development. Then Dr. Abraham Samuel of Amity University lectured on PowerPoint on the impact of new technologies and new materials on sustainable design in architecture. After a brief reception, the panel of experts was formed by the seminar lecturers and Dr. Fatima Smith of Emirates Azad University and Dr. Nina Mahatna and Dr. Banafsheh Quadri Rajput of Amity University Dubai and discussions on the lectures, Long-term sustainability strategies and goals were discussed. The program ended with a lecture by Dr. Vaseghi, President of the UAE Branch and a tribute to the organizers and lecturers.
On the morning of the second day, they moved to Abu Dhabi from the Azad University of Emirates at 9 am. The first destination was the Masdar city. The Masdar city is the first prototype of sustainable urbanization designed and built by pilots from prestigious companies in the world (Norman Foster, Siemens, etc.). Afterwards, a visit to the Yas island and a short stop along the Ferrari Land was made for lunch. Then they moved on to the Louvre Museum in Abu Dhabi. The museum was designed by the renowned French architect Jean Nouvel and opened last year by French President Emmanuel Macron. The museum exhibits work from around the world, including Iran. Then, along with Maghreb Azan, a
visit to the great Sheikh Zayed Mosque took place. This mosque designed in the style of Indian mosque architecture with white marble. A carpet of Tabriz fabrics is located in the main yard of the mosque. On the way back from Abu Dhabi, a new bridge designed by Zaha Hadid and diagonal Capital Gate Tower was observed.
On the day after the conference, a number of members of the board of directors of the Tehran Engineering System Organization visited two renovated areas of Dubai, Box Park and City Walk.The group also visited the historical context of Bastakya, built by immigrants from the Iranian town of baste in the late 19th century in Dubai, and visited the recently renovated Al-Saeef district near Bastakiya.
